Gold News Feature Award

My article titled "New Law Could Curb Child Consignment Businesses," which ran in Baton Rouge Parent Magazine, won a 2010 gold news feature award in the Parenting Publications of America's Editorial Awards Competition.

Here's what the judges had to say about the article:

"This article offers unique insights into how environmental concerns over contaminated toys and clothing affect second hand businesses while making parents' shopping choices more complex. The author managed to seamlessly connect the ripple effects of product recalls, their effects on neighborhood entrepreneurs, and the potential dangers to children in a revealing, well-investigated story."

Presenting at the Media Next Conference in Daytona Beach

In September 2014, I was a presenting speaker at the Marketing Next Conference that took place in Daytona Beach. I was invited to speak there to share what I know about how to engage an audience online. I presented information on how to engage people on social media, including on how to write engaging posts. Here is a picture from that event, including one of me and Diane, the woman behind putting the event on, and the event schedule showing my presentation on the list.
